India, St. Joseph's ziekenhuis
In western Europe the healthcare situation is developing rapidly.
During recent discussions about medical problems with medical specialists, it appeared that, in their view, the further training of young and more experienced graduate doctors should be improved, particularly on a wider scale, outside their special training program.
They note that the training takes place according to national protocols and in most cases also within only one hospital, with each country setting their own requirements for the training separately. On the other hand, they note that health care is becoming increasingly international. They are therefore convinced that additional training as a medical specialist should be more in line with the international character of healthcare.
The EROM project offers young and more experienced doctors, working in the European Union, the opportunity to work as a medical doctor during a short period in a hospital in another country.
At this moment we have an initial agreement with the St.Joseph’s hospital in India, that is interested to accept young and more experienced European medical doctors for a period of a few months to do voluntary work as a doctor in their hospital and gaining a wide experience in medicine.
The hospital is located in Kothamangalam Kerala; India

St.Joseph’s hospital
St Joseph’s Hospital dates back to the year 1934 when Servant of God Joseph Panjikaran (MA, PhD, DD, Dcl), the founder of the Medical Sisters of St Joseph (MSJ) established Dharmagiri Hospital with the purpose of providing medical aid for the poor and the downtrodden in the society. He named the hospital “Dharmagiri” (Charity Mount) and established the MSJ to radiate the compassionate love of Jesus Christ to all and especially to those in need of medical aid.
St Joseph’s Hospital at Kothamangalam is an extension of what was begun Servant of God Joseph Panjikaran. It was started as a small dispensary in 1953 and from its humble beginning it has grown, over the years, to a full-fledged 300 bedded multispecialty hospital with modern facilities, advanced super specialty departments. We also undertake Extension clinic and rural health care projects as Village Extension Programs.
